Scott Urwin is our Senior Business Development Manager working with businesses in the North East.
Scott joined Baltic in November 2012 where his role was to recruit and source candidates for Computacenter in Milton Keynes and other SME’s in the surrounding area. He held this position until July 2013 when he was successful in his application for the role of Business Development Manager covering the North East. Fast forward to July 2015 when, thanks to his many successes in his role he was promoted to his current role of Senior Business Development Manager for supporting businesses in Durham, Sunderland, and Newcastle. Since he joined Baltic as you can see, Scott’s role has evolved dramatically. The North East has increased its customer base year on year, becoming one of the most successful areas of the UK for Baltic. Our clients have to take a lot of the credit as they offer real and sustainable opportunities to our apprentices.
When we asked Scott to pick the best part of his role, he couldn’t as he simply has too many! So the best parts of his role include meeting new people and visiting new places (anyone who has ever met Scott will understand when we say he likes a good chat!) Also supporting businesses with skills shortages and recruitment needs enabling them to grow and reach their potential is a very rewarding part of his role and finally, offering young people a life changing opportunity is a definite highlight for him.
When Scott isn’t working with new and existing employers, he loves to travel, with Thailand, India, New Zealand and Africa at the top of his list. Formula 1 and football are also great passions of his, so much so he even founded the Baltic football team! One of Scott’s greatest personal achievements was being in the position to get on the property ladder in 2013 when he bought his own home. Now Scott and his fiancé are in the position to move up the ladder and are looking to move somewhere with more space after their September 2018 wedding.
Scott says the best part of working with Baltic is the fact he loves working alongside people who have the same passion and drive as he does, trying to make a difference to people lives. From the start he has felt confident and encouraged to speak out and share his opinions and ideas, always asking for support when it’s needed. He agrees that everyone at Baltic are passionate about our values, and it is this passion which has created a family and one that he says he is very proud to be part of. Scott says it is this that makes his job easier and helps him to keep his clients happy and achieve our common goal of ultimately changing people’s lives.
