Software Development Technician

The aim of this Software Development Technician apprenticeship is to provide the skills and knowledge required to begin a career in software development. This allows the learner to gain an understanding of the tools and methodologies used by software developers. Learners will gain an appreciation of the concepts, approaches and techniques of programming and will apply these to simple software components used by teams within their organisation and their customer base. Software development technicians will also be engaged with software testing to ensure that components meet the required specifications and intended functionality.

Course Content:

The modules your apprentice will complete as part of this apprenticeship are:

BCS Level 3 Certificate in Software Development Context and Methodologies (Part 1 & 2)

  • Software Development Environment, Roles and Structure
  • Software Development Processes

BCS Level 3 Certificate in Programming (Part 1, 2 & 3)

  • Software Development Requirements
  • Software Data, Interfaces & Security
  • Developing Code Using Good Practices & Logic

The training is delivered using a variety of methods, including Online Live, workshops and self study. Apprentice’s will receive monthly contact through our virtual assessing. The assessor will carry out a full progress review every 8 weeks and a feedback action plan every 8 weeks, meaning the types of contact will alternate through the programme. Courses will run typically every 5-8 weeks, and the order of the modules can be subject to change.

There are also 2 workshops which are 1 day each, these will be carried out
via Online Live at months 4 and 9.

Baltic Training do not deliver training in isolation. In addition to the experience gained through meaningful employment the apprentice will develop key business skills which will strengthen their employability within any chosen path.

Learners enrolled onto this programme are able to progress onto our higher apprenticeships, either Software Developer or Software Tester.
