The aim of this apprenticeship is to provide the skills and knowledge required of a successful software tester. The primary role of a software tester is to ensure that software operates as intended. This is achieved through detailed design and testing of software. Learners develop an understanding of preparing test plans and conducting accurate software testing, while completing documentation and reporting of test activities. The software development lifecycle and software development practices are covered within the apprenticeship to provide a sound base of knowledge.

- Systems Development Lifecycle
- Software Applications Testing
- Design an effective Web User experience
International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB)
- ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation (Includes Exam)
Apprentices will also complete an End Point Assessment (EPA) which includes: External Assessment, Synoptic Project, and Interview.
The training is delivered using a variety of methods, including Online Live, workshops and self study. Apprentices will receive assessor contact every 6 weeks which will be a full progress review, we encourage all managers and mentors to participate in this progress review.
Towards the end of the apprenticeship the assessor will provide final contact sessions to prepare your apprentice for EPA.
Courses will run typically every 8 weeks, and the order of the modules can be subject to change. The exams associated with the apprenticeship standard programmes will be delivered in the nearest test centre. This programme includes 1 mandatory exam that the apprentice needs to pass in order to complete and achieve the apprenticeship.
